Nominaties Annie Awards 2012 bekend

Welke animatie(film)s maken dit jaar kans op de eervolle onderscheiding?

Maandagavond werd de lijst vrijgegeven van alle genomineerden voor de Annie Awards, zeg maar de Oscars van de animatiesector. Elk jaar wordt de beste animatie in bioscoopfilms, korte films, tv-series, specials, commercials en games bekroond. Dit jaar – de veertigste editie – is er ook een nieuwe categorie voor de Beste Studentenfilm toegevoegd. Alles bij elkaar zijn er dertig verschillende categorieën.

Niet alleen studio’s kunnen prijzen winnen met hun films en series, maar ook individuele mensen die een opmerkelijke bijdrage hebben geleverd aan geanimeerde producties. Zo maken niet alleen de regisseurs, maar ook animators, storyboardtekenaars, ontwerpers, stemacteurs en editors kans op een gouden beeldje.

In de rubriek voor de Beste Animatiefilm valt de afwezigheid op van enkele bekende titels, waaronder The Lorax (Illumination), Madagascar 3 (DreamWorks), From Up on Poppy Hill (Studio Ghibli) en Ice Age 4 (Blue Sky) – al zijn de films wel in andere categorieën terug te vinden. Vreemd is ook dat slechts vier van de acht genomineerden voor Beste Film ook voor Beste Regie zijn genomineerd.

De top vijf met films die de meeste nominaties kregen:

05 nominaties: Frankenweenie

De top vijf met studio’s die de meeste nominaties kregen:

10 nominaties: Pixar
08 nominaties: Laika

Wie de Juried Awards ontvangt is al bekend. Dat zijn prijzen die niet door de leden, maar door de jury wordt gegeven aan mensen of studio’s die zich op verdienstelijke wijze hebben ingezet voor animatie, zowel qua creativiteit als op het gebied van technologische vernieuwingen. Een van de winnaars is Mark Henn, een bekende Disney-animator die meewerkte aan talloze klassiekers, zoals The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin en The Lion King.

De winnaars worden op 2 februari 2013 in Los Angeles bekendgemaakt.
