DreamWorks domineert de Annie Awards 2010

De 38e editie van de Annie Awards is er een om niet te vergeten. Door de terugtrekking van Disney/Pixar uit het evenement (dat – in theorie – de belangrijkste prijzen voor animaties uitdeelt), komt DreamWorks als grote winnaar uit de bus.

Zoals je eerder al kon lezen, besloot Disney/Pixar om dit jaar – na meer dan twee decennia – de samenwerking met de ASIFA (International Animated Film Society) te verbreken. Niet alleen zouden de studio’s het evenement niet meer sponsoren, maar werden hun films en het werk van hun individuele animators niet langer ingediend voor de wedstrijd.

Daardoor domineerde DreamWorks de hele wedstrijd. In 24 categorieën won de studio maar liefst 15 keer (waarvan 10 keer met How to Train Your Dragon). Onderaan in dit bericht vind je de volledige opsomming van alle winnaars.

Jammer dat de hele ruzie/boycot een schaduw werpt op de winnaars (en de geloofwaardigheid?) van het prijzenfeest. Hoe rot voelt een animator zich nu als iedereen denkt dat hij de prijs kreeg van zijn studiomaatjes in plaats van zijn collega’s?  Het enige wat de ASIFA nu te doen staat, is eens nadenken over enkele nieuwe regels zodat de reputatie van de organisatie (en de bijbehorende awards) weer in ere wordt hersteld.
